Cheri  Grin here was the Bible scroll at the footer as I was posting this message.

Philippians 4:7
4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

and then I read this....

Philippians 4:9
4:9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

think on these things and REJOICE!

I love this chapter. It brings heaven right in to where you are sitting in every moment.

Love

A few thoughts/questions:

Is the pastor seminary/Bible college trained?

Was it a legitimate call to the pulpit or merely an act of convenience?

With a weak leadership from the elders the pastor seems to be neglecting his ministry and seems to lack accountability. He needs to have formal office hours, he needs to be held to visitation, and be available if he cannot/will not fulfill his duties then its time to give him his walking papers.

A servant of Christ,

1 Tim. 3:
16: And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

He was not originally trained.  Our pastor of seven years moved on and we needed a replacement.  We did candidate for a pastor.  Our current pastor was just an elder at the time and started picking up the slack.  After a year, he said he felt called to be pastor.  He resigned where he worked and pastored for about six years.  He then went to the Word of Life School in upper New York for nine months for some type of schooling.  He has also been going to Indiana every so often for a week at a time for training in counseling.

Our church used to own a parsonage so housing was provided for as part of the salary.  When Greg became pastor, he already owned his house and was debt free.  We sold the parsonage and used the money to add onto the church.  Our church is no longer in a financial situation where we could afford to bring in a new pastor because of the housing situation.  It is pretty complicated.
