"..so shall the coming of the Son of Man be..."

WWW

I may be an admin on here, but that doesn't mean I'm really techno-savvy!!  Truth be told, I was added to the admin team because they were totally desperate and willing to take anybody...  just about!   Wink  I know just enough about computers and technology to be a hazard both to myself and to others...  Just ask WQ, the real brain behind the smooth operation of the WoP.

Anyway, a while back I got hooked on the Futurequake shows and would download and burn them to cd so I could listen while driving around...  Cool!  ... Until they started posting them as one download...  way too much for one cd!  So, I contacted Dr. Future and asked if they could continue posting the show 'broken' in to two one hour segments....  Long story short he pointed me to a free program that would let me do it myself, and alter the format if necessary!!

Here's how you to can download, split and burn the shows onto disc for personal enjoyment, to give to your pastor or friends, etc...

1. The free program is Audacity, and it can do a number of neat tasks...  I really haven't explored all of it, but it is good with modules that can be added to increase capacity...

2. In the Futurequake archive, right click the 'Show Audio File' for the episode you want to save, then left click on 'Save Link As'...  and remember what file you are downloading it to.  (Until you have this part down, just save it to your desktop so you know EXACTLY where it is...   Cool )

3.  Open Audacity on your desktop and then left clik 'File' and left click 'open', select the file or desktop where the 2 hour audio is stored, and select the audio you want to divide.

4.  Audacity will import the file...  it may take a couple minutes, then you can highlight the first 70+/- minutes of the show and left click 'file' and then left click 'Export as MP3'.  Remember to rename the file being exported and save to a location/file you can find.  I typically rename it FQ###H1 (where the ### are the show numbers Dr. Future and Tom Bionic have assigned to is...  H1 or H2 is for 'Hour 1' or 'Hour2', plus I'll add a few word title that reminds me what the show is about....   [See?  I told you I'm not real bright...   Grin ]  After the first hour is exported simply change the highlighted section to the second 64-70 minutes (be sure to get a few second overlap so you don't lose any of their humor or informative guests...   Wink ) and left click 'file' and 'Export as MP3' and rename...  you should be getting the hang of it...  LOL!

5.  Now simply use a cd burning program (your computer should have one like Roxio or somesuch) and burn the cds for your car...  Oh, don't forget the sharpie to label what is what..."FQ145H1: Black Awakening"...  etc...

Have fun!

If you have questions, feel free to ask.  I may not know the answer, but can certainly help you find out!

Hope this helps, not just with FQ, but with other audio files you want to burn for future reference.

Peace,

pete

If you're listening to some past shows with headphones, there might be some where you can barely hear the guest eg Show16 with David Flynn. Turning the volume up full boar to hear him will blast your eardrums when the Doctor speaks  In that case download an Mp3 Normalizer, run it on the mp3 file and it will even all the voices to the same level, it will boost the low volume voices up and save the new mp3 file  Grin

Here's another one:
http://www.afterdawn.com/...re/mp3_tools/mp3split.cfm  or
http://digilander.libero.it/mega27/mp3split/

Audacity is kind of ... overpowered for just splitting mp3s...  unless you want to go in and trim out other parts too, then it's perfect. But if you're just splitting up a file - I think a simpler program would be better.

Sorry to say this but for me listening to FQ shows are a constant test of patience!

This is the only download show on the web that I have constant disconnect problems on dial up when downloading. Sometimes using the WOP player will get me so far before a disconnect and usually leaves me hanging right in the middle of conversation. The download interruptions happen sometimes 10 or more times with no exaggeration.

The sad thing is I enjoy listening but my patience to survive the interruptions is driving me crazy and I am near to just giving up trying to download them any more.

LOL....miss them ALL! I have to say though listening to a FQ show is worth the aggravation however I got to download when I am in a patient mode. The thing is I never lose the connection with any other downloads just takes time which is good so I can get the housework done.

OH Well..this is my ode to dial up. violin

Are we not getting any new Future shows?
There have not been any for at least a couple of weeks?
